Sustainably exploiting optimization potential: from lean expert to lean trainer

April 14, 2022 | News Germany

Companies, of course, always want to deliver the best possible work to their customers. However, unclear framework conditions, long lead times, waste and quality fluctuations can significantly affect the result. This makes it all the more important to create internal structures and processes that support all employees in their search for solutions. This can only be achieved in a climate of cooperation and trust. And it requires committed colleagues who advance the improvement process in a competent and appreciative manner. The Staufen Academy therefore offers suitable training courses for lean experts and lean trainers.

Companies that invest in lean training for their employees today are creating the best conditions to sustainably exploit optimization potential

Lean competencies: creating and expanding foundations

Training consists of three levels and is aimed at all employees who drive the improvement process in the company.

Mockup Ausbildungsprogramm Lean Experte und Trainer 2022
  • Level 1 is the basic training to become a lean expert. In the five-day seminar, participants learn how to design low-waste processes. At the same time, they work on their communication skills and create their own presentations on a flipchart. The goal is to make teamwork efficient and to organize and lead CIP workshops properly. Homework and practical exercises ensure the transfer of what has been learned into everyday work after the end of the seminar.
  • At Level 2, the basic knowledge acquired is deepened. The five-day seminar focuses on applying the lean skills and methods learned.
  • Prior knowledge is required for participation. A refresher course in lean management is therefore planned before the start of the 2nd part of the training. This preparation course takes place as web-based training (WBT), so participants can learn seven days a week around the clock, whenever it suits them best. The refresher is divided into different modules and ends with a final test.
  • Depending on the area of the company in which the future lean experts are active, they decide on at least one in-depth seminar at Level 2. Here, they can choose between seven events: There are seminars for production and production-related areas, for so-called indirect areas and those that are cross-divisional.
  • At the end of Level 2, participants will complete an examination to become a Lean Expert.
  • Staufen recommends applying what you have learned in a project in your own environment before starting the training to become a lean trainer.

Passing on your lean knowledge to others

Between Level 2 and Level 3 of the training, the Staufen Academy recommends applying what you have learned in a project in your own environment. This is because Level 3 of the training requires that participants already conducted CIP workshops and gained extensive experience with lean methods. This is the case at the earliest six months after the Lean Expert* exam.

Level 3 includes training to become a lean trainer. This advanced course enables companies to ensure the transfer of knowledge within their own organization. The five-day seminar teaches future in-house trainers how to didactically structure seminars for employees and how to deal with resistance. At the end of the course, there is an examination to become a lean trainer.

The training costs €2,890 per seminar (plus VAT). If desired, an Alumni Day for exchange with other former participants can be booked after the Basic Training for €299 (plus VAT).

When booking the complete Lean Expert training series, participants receive a 5% discount on the total price and a 10% discount on the total price of the Lean Trainer training series.
